Biography

An avid supporter of traditional and innovative printmaking, Le Green-Schubert co-founded StoneMetal Press in 1991, and recently steeped down as director to pursue her own art and other interests. Born Linda Schroeder, Le took her artist name in 1970, in part to disguise her gender in a world which still dismissed women and their work. At the age of 19, she had her first one-person show in Corpus Christi, curated by Joseph Cain of Del Mar College.  Returning to finish her Bachelor of fine arts at UTSA in 1987, she was Vice President of the San Antonio Print Club and Coordinator of the Womenís History Month Juried Show at the University in 1989. Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, Concentration: Printmaking from the University of Texas at San Antonio, she went on to earn a Master of Science in Education Administration, Visual Arts at the premier leader in educational research, Bank Street College in New York City in 1999, and earned her New York State Certificate in Educational Supervision in 2000.

Recent solo exhibitions include Chrysalis at One9zero6 Gallery, Domestic Peace at the University of Incarnate Word. Curated exhibitions include Impressed at the Southwest School of Art and Craft and the Blue Star Contemporary Art Centerís PRESSure.

Her public art installation, Birds in Flight: Eagles to the East was on view in San Antonio during Julyís Contemporary Art Month 2005. The banners and billboards spanned three miles of commercial corridor on the Eastside, from St. Paulís Square east to I-10 and north to I- 35. Le struggles to express the internal, nonverbal life of the mind. Her work celebrates human struggle and isolation, strength and triumph.

With an extensive background in art administration and education, Le Green Schubert became the first full time paid director of StoneMetal Press Gallery and Studio in 2004. Her public schools teaching experience includes Reading, Art and Social Studies including a year with at risk-students South San Alternative School. While there she sponsored at risk student programs including visiting elderly at Southwest Care Center, school service projects and museum field trips, and a mural art exhibition for at risk school students at Blue Star Art Space.
